About the Department

Department of Bengali of Calcutta Girls' College had started from 1963. That time Bengali was taught as general subject.

From 2003 we have started Honours classes with a few students.

Education is not meant for earning the degrees only. Its primary purpose is centered on making a student a true and better human being. This vision of Kobiguru has been adopted as the ideal model by the Department of Bengali of Calcutta Girls' College. Beside the academic teaching-learning, the department also takes care of the emotional and principal development of each and every student. The department is devoted for the effectiveness of the students in the field of Bengali language and literature alongside building an accomplished future for them.
